How To Take Care of Long Hair?

Man with long hair

You decided that you want to give it a go, or you’ve had long hair for a while now but you’re not quite sure how to look after it.

First of all, let me tell you, you are a lucky man! Not all men can grow their hair long or are courageous enough to try. So, BIG thumbs up to this!

Now, what do you do with your long, or longer, hair?

As you may imagine, proper maintenance is critical to keeping your hair in top condition.

So, the first thing you will want to do is determine what is the right shampoo and conditioner for your hair type.

Some hair type and recommended products include:

  1. Dry or Damaged Hair: Look for products that contain ultra-conditioning ingredients like keratin, camelina oil, or aloe.
  2. Fine Hair: Look for gentle shampoos that contain thickening ingredients. And stay away from heavy conditioners that weigh hair down.
  3. Unruly Hair: Use super hydrating and creamy products.

Our suggestion is also to always wash your hair with lukewarm water; hot water will damage your hair and scalp.

Another important tip? Try avoiding a hair dryer where possible and avoid vigorous towel drying. Not only this will damage your hair, but it will also make it frizz too much. You don’t want that.

The ideal brush depends on the type of hair, and the objective you are wanting to achieve. A Denman Brush is a good solution to detangle most hair types. But we'd recommend a Wide-Tooth Comb or a Hair Pick for those with curlier hair! Have a look at the image below for more on this:

Finally, don't forget your barber! To make sure your hair looks its best, you will want to see a barber regularly to help give the right shape, cut split ends and make sure it keeps growing strong. After all, you've put all this time and effort into growing it, so you want it to look its BEST!
